Weepy Friday

Woke up this morning, I realized it was raining. It almost felt surreal after weeks of sun and heat. And a funny thing about summer rain is that it doesnt' really cool anything off. It just felt muggy. Or so I thought, anyways, until about mid-day when the wind picked up a bit, then it was a tad cool...

Beechers Brook top (Fairweather), CK jeans (Winners), Aldo flats

So there's the rain. Then, watching the news in the morning, what greeted me? The unfortunate sad scary event that happened in a Colorado theatre. Ay yah...

On a more mundane thought, my right leg, where I pulled a muscle, is feeling much better, thank god...

I just realized today's outfit is like a back-up outfit for me when all else fails. No, not so much the look itself but more like the idea of monochromatic (sorta') clothes paired with bright (sorta') shoes. I think it's because in my previous work life, as I've probably mentioned before, I lived in suits. And when you think there's only so many color of suits you can purchase, what's a gal to do to inject some personality? Why, go crazy with shoes and accessories. No?...

J Crew bracelet, Tissot watch (gift)

Express turquoise necklace (old)

And the more I look at my outfit, the more it feels like a suburban mom look to me. Don't even know what that means! I think it's the cropped pants. Dang stereotypes!... No offense...

God, my thoughts are all over the place! Thank god it's Friday. No more thinking required... Whew!...

Better Than Yesterday

With the kind of work week I had, I can't express how glad I am it's Saturday.

Jacket (old), Beech Bros. top (Fairweather), Gap cords,
Clarks flats (The Bay)

Funny enough, today's outfit is a wholla better than yesterday's (def not worth the post), considering I worked yesterday, and am not today. Hah!

I still have overflow of work from last week, or I should say, more than usual overflow, so I'm thinking I may just do a bit of that this weekend... Did I just write what I just wrote? Am I crazy?!?!... Apparently I am... hmmm, I may have just changed my mind after all... maybe...

Inspired by Rhoda, Sorta'

When I wore my red orange polka dots last week, a co-worker mentioned how she has just recently seen a Rhoda re-run where she wore polka dots with argyle (which I found an image, funny enough), and how she thought it was such a cool combo, and how my polka dot outfit reminded her of that.

When I told her I'll keep that in mind, coz it did intrigue my patterned brain, I didn't realize it would linger. Linger long enough to have come up with today's outfit.

Express cardi (old), Beechers Brook top (Fairweather),
Gap skirt, Born boots (Winners)

Well, of all the argyles in my closet, no argyle cardi, alas, so I thought, why not plaid! HAH!

Polka dots and plaid, fave patterns, why not, right?:p Hmmm, what next, argyle and stripes? Floral and checks? Hmmm, I think I just got dizzy. Gotta' lie down for a sec...

HAH!

How January is Shaping Up, So Far...

Been sick since evening of NYE, blech! Not a good feeling to start the New Year, and while you're on vacation at that, more blech! But it is what it is...

NYE Party was more fun than I expected. I suppose that's what happens when you have no expectations at all, in the first place. Fun!

Daniel Hechter blouse (Fairweather),
H&M faux leather pants,
Born boots (Winners)
Traditionally, we wear polka dots for New Year. Why? Polka dots supposedly signifies coin which signifies money which signifies wealth. Go figure. Never been the type to adhere to such thing as an adult, but this year, I thought it'd be fun:)

And since it's a NYE party, gotta have some bling, no?

... other sis and me:p

By New Year's day, my sniffle has turned to full blown cold so the entire day was spent on the couch, just watching movies *ah, bliss*

By Monday, I probably could've spent the entire day again at home, but this is a vacation after all meant to be spent with family and friends so I did push myself to get dressed and go out for dinner.

Jones NY coat & Patagonia boots (Winners),
Tignanello purse (gift from sis),
AE jeans

Ok, "getting dressed" is debatable, I admit. Hah! Well, I just wanted to stay warm!

Gap knit cap
All I cared for was that I was covered, head to toe. Besides, winter has now really kicked in, and it's CCOOOOLLLDD!!!

I wouldn't say I'm feeling 100% better, but I think I'm getting over it now. Thank you, Advil, Tylenol for Cold and echinacea! heehee

Tonight was spent out for dinner with all sides of the family. My family, my in-laws, and first sis' in-laws:)

Rafaella buttondown shirt & Aerosole boots (Winners),
BR knit vest, Gap cord leggings

... love the tiny cable knit

Rachel Roy ring (The Bay)

They say it's good to feed a cold. At the rate I'm going since I got here, I think it's safe to say that I've been doing that, since that's all I've been doing, really, since I got here- Eat! eeeek

Ode to Danny Zuko

As much as I want to say I've started the countdown to my vacay, I can't, bah! So much work stuff still happening, more bah!

Funny enough, I think my brain has gone on vacay already tho' as far as dressing (up) and getting ready in the morning is concerned.

Poetry cardi & Born boots (Winners),
Paris tee (Fairweather),
AE Outfitter jeans
Was this really the best I could have come up with?!? Sheesh...

Guess I was feeling kinda' retro, in a Grease kinda' retro, but not feeling the girly this morning. So, no Sandy Olsen for me. Instead...

Hah!

I did put pull my hair back with a band and wore a hoop, does that count? heehee...

See, is my mind on vacay now, or what! Well, it'll be nowhere near as chichi as Paris, but it's even better... it'll be where family is, yay!!!

Basic Colors

Don't think I could have gone any more basic than this. In color, that is.

Nicole Miller cardi (Costco),
Beech Bros. blouse (Fairweather),
Gap pants, BR belt, Payless booties

Black, gray, brown, and white, if you count the dots.

The color wheel wasn't available, so...
Hah!

Lots and Dots

So, back to work it is, after a couple of weeks of r&r. Working at a different office this week and next. It's always a treat but could be a source of trepidation when plopped in a new work environment.

Top (Fairweather),
Pants (Banana Republic),
Flats (Naturalizer)

I've had this choker for, like, forever. And now they're back in style. See, guess it pays to hang on to certain things, no?

I call these my Dorothy shoes... "There's no place like home, there's no place like home."

Haul of the Week

Instead of posting an "outfit" today, thought I'd post SOME of the hauls this week. Yes, I realize it's only Tuesday, but I'm almost certain this is it for the week. I intend so, anyway.

From top left, clockwise:
Poet shirt (Winners) with Nygard necklace (Sears),
Clarks desert boots (Winners),
polka dot blouse (Fairweather),
Old Navy jeans (YES, $0.47!!!)
And lest I forget this...

American Eagle Outfitters cobalt blue jeggings

Major score!

I realize there were a piece or 2 (or more) in the last few weeks, but I'm trying not to think too much about it... teehee...

So, this will, hopefully, be the only haul pic I'll ever post. Hopefully...
