Gingham and Herringbone

I probably shouldn't have mixed them. But I guess I did. Sorta'.

BR button-down shirt, J Crew belt, Liz Claiborne skirt (Sears),
tights (Winners), Aldo boots
braided leather with gold (fr Mexico), Joe Fresh cuff, H&M bow

So tired. Bah! That was me Thursday. Went out after work for our Christmas dinner. Actually had another invite tonight but I didn't have any energy left. O well. It's Friday, that's the important thing. Weekend, here I sleep! HAH!

A for Effort

Didn't really have any plans to dress up for Halloween. Never really been a big costume dresser. The most I'd probably go for is a look or an outfit.

Gap Kids sweater, Gap skirt, H&M collar necklace,
Aerosole boots (Winners)

Did I get the school girl look right, at least? The funny thing is I'd wear this outfit any given time. HAH!

And since it's Halloween after all...

Not too much candies around work, fortunately hehe... And there goes another Halloween...

Then Comes the Richer Color

Boy am I glad it's Friday!

BR jean jacket & men's belt, AE button-down, Gap skinny jeans,
Clarks flats (The Bay), scarf (gift)

It's been a long week for sure. Some major change at work, emails were flying back and forth like cray cray most of the week. BUT the good thing is it's a long weekend, yay Thanksgiving!

(love the plum-y color of these jeans)

AND on top of that, I have 2 short work weeks to look forward to after. See, it's not even Thanksgiving yet and I have something to be thankful for already. Actually, I'm always thankful, or I try to be anyways...

TGIF! (See, there's another one HAH!)

No Time, No Time

I suppose this new assignment I have has got me more tired than I thought, and I'm not even realizing it. On Monday, I forgot to set the alarm the night before, overslept by an hour. Yikes! Then last night, I remembered to set the alarm but what did I do? I kept hitting the snooze button and got up almost 45 minutes later. Hey, I guess 15 minutes better than the day before.

CK cardi (Winners), Old Navy button-down shirt,
BR jeans, Expression flats (The Bay)

On a sunny note, no really, I mean, literally sunny, hehe the weather's been gorgeous. Not sure how much longer we're gonna have this kind of weather but soaking up every bit of it.

Feeling that itch again to wear every imaginable color I have in the closet. Fall is just around the corner, after all, as in 3 days around the corner, no?

Is the weather alone enough to make up for the busy-ness of work lately? Not really, but it's a mighty fine consolation, for sure..

Back (Hidden) Details

The days just seem to be zooming by for a couple of weeks now. Gah!

Attitude top & Jessica flats (Sears),
Citizens of Humanity jeans (Aritzia)

Work seems to be getting the better part of me... tut-tut...

Line cardi (Winners)

Anyhoot, with the temp starting to dip slowly but surely, layering time has begun. And I'm all for layering, not only to warm me up, but also, I find, because it's a lazy way of hiding a multitude of sins. HAH! The only thing with layering is it can also hide details that you don't mind showing.

... especially when it's in the back. Too bad, eh? I love those shiny buttons and the stitching on the pockets.

TGIFT(omorrow:p)!!!

Picnic Table for 1

As soon as I got to work yesterday, first thing I heard was I look cute(?) and my top looks like a picnic table.

Old Navy button-down shirt (recent purch),
Gap reversible men's belt,
CK jeans & Adidas kicks (Winners, old)

Well, it does, doesn't it? HAH! It's funny 'cause that's the very reason why I wasn't a fan of gingham in the past but I obviously got over that.

And funny enough, remarks like that, in my young(er) years, would have sent my insecurities to the forefront that it would've bugged me and made me feel uncomfortable for the rest of the day. Oh, the follies of youth...

Now, I actually thought comments like that are just amusing. Gave me something to write about, for starter. HAH!

This top was purchased over the weekend at the store. It's been going in and out of my virtual cart for months now but never got around to going thru with it. Luck of all luck, it was on clearance at the store and with an additional 20% off thanks to an email alert, I figured I had no other reason not to buy it. Well, that's how I'm justifying it anyways hehe...

Grass is Greener...

Rain came this weekend, as predicted (for a change). Although it wasn't the most welcome sight, it did cool off the city a bit. A few more days of the heat and I woulda' been whining like the folks back east hehe. I know, I know, can't win, eh?

Attitude top & Nygard necklace (Sears),
Gap cropped trousers, Aldo flats

Did my small good deed yesterday, and just resting today. I think whatever I was feeling since Friday before last has finally caught up with me. Never fails, the way I get sick, on weekends! What's up with that! *shrug*

Felt a lil weird wearing such a saturated color in summer, but yesterday's weather was not typical summer weather, so I thought it was ok...

I'll be working in a different office for the next 2 weeks. Should be fun...

I think imma rest up now...

No Difference

Despite the fact that I've been working for 4 years where I am now, I still sometimes can't get over the fact how casual we (I) can get with (my) work outfits.

Jessica top (Sears), CK jeans (Winners),
Aldo tote and belt

Take today, for example. This is me, not working. Yet, I might as well be at work with this look. Kinda' sad. And kinda' nice too, I think. Although I can still remember a time when I used to look forward to the weekend so I can wear my weekend clothes. Since I was pretty much in suits on weekdays, I enjoyed the times I was able to bring out my jeans, for example, and my casual shirts.

Not anymore, obviously. Now, the suits have been relegated to a corner of the closet(s), and there are no longer any distinction between workday and weekend as far as outfits are concerned. Mind you, you should see some of my weekend wear now (eeeep). Slippery slope, I know.

Soludos for J Crew espadrilles (recent purch)

In the end I guess, that's not really a bad thing at all. I can utilize most of what's in my closet now practically everyday, as opposed to only using a portion of it some of the time. How un-smart is that?

That's my excuse anyway, and I'm sticking to it...

HAH!

Extra Looong Weekend

Since I didn't really book any vacation this summer, I thought I'd take a few days and attach it to a stat holiday. Hence, the 5-day weekend.

AE button-down shirt, Gap trousers & belt, Clarks flats (The Bay)

I really relished last Wednesday, knowing it was the last workday of the week. I ended up leaving work much later than I anticipated, just because I didn't want to leave too much stuff hanging. Oh, I know there was even no need for that, but like I said, it's what I wanted (or didn't want).

I didn't realize how tired I was until I woke up at 10 yesterday morning. Damn books keeping me up later than usual.

And since my free time has officially started as of yesterday morning, I decided to meet a friend for lunch yesterday. That was quite enjoyable. And today, I've decided to do nada.

Ah, free time *sigh*

(Side story: this is probably the farthest I can go with this half-tuck/semi-tuck business. Wanna know why? I tried a half-tuck one time, and a colleague surreptitiously pulled me aside to whisper in my ear that I missed tucking the other half of my shirt. BURN!... HAHA... So the fashion limits have been set, so it seems, by the fashion gods for mere mortals such as myself. *giggle*)

Purple and Orange

Just hearing those 2 colors together, I already smile. Purple? Fave. Orange? Fave.

AE button-down shirt, Gap belt, Tissot watch (Xmas gift fr hubs),
CK jeans (Winners), Clarks flats (The Bay)

This is kinda' another uniform for me. Kinda'? Who am I kidding? It is.

Weather seem to be picking up nicely. A quiet productive day at work. And that's good. I think I have energy to last me the week, for a change. Hah!

Well, I would need the energy as 3 of us at work are responsible for someone's retirement party happening this Friday. I better have the energy, no? I'm quite looking forward to it, and I really hope the retiree will have a rollicking heck of a time. Crossing fingers...

Timber!

With today's weather, it felt like we're hurtling back to fall, skipping summer entirely. Bah!

Nicole Miller cardi, Nevada shirt (Sears), belt (Ross, old),
BDG jegging (UO), Clarks desert boots (Winners)

My day started out normal enough. But then, as the day wore on, the energy level just kept on going down, rather than up.  By the end of the day, I felt really tired. Worse, I looked really tired, so I was told. Bah!

Even hubs told me my eyes looked tired a minute ago. More bah!

Guess this is what happens when one had a long weekend and thinking it was a long weekend, decided to tackle long overdue chores around the house, which got one sore all over, but at the end, feeling quite satisfied that things were done, finally... yippee... boo... yippee...

Here's to the rest of the week! HAH!

Match-y, Match-y

I guess having the nice weather over the weekend was more than we can ask for this time of the year. As if right on cue, it was glum the first day back to work. *pout*

AE button-down, Gaultier jeans & Elise M belt (Winners),
H&M flats

I felt, deep in my bones(?), that I just gotta' wear colors today. I just couldn't bring myself to grab the drab colors out of my closet. Nope. Especially knowing that the rain will be coming back starting tomorrow.

Somehow, even though it's not the smartest thing, my sartorial brain feels like it's had enough of winter stuff. Somehow, it just feels wrong to even look at the sweaters and tights and layers.

Oh, I know I'm just deluding myself. One of these days, the temp's probably gonna dip a few more times and I'd just automatically reach for those warm cozy winter stuff. Bah!

BR trench

See, I couldn't even bring myself to put on a winter coat. Is it just me? It's as if my brain has reached a winter saturation point. Hmmm...

(The Bay)

I realized you're not really supposed to match things anymore. And I know I do, today. And things're supposed to just go with each other. But I couldn't help it, ok! heehee

I thought the shirt had so much going on with it already, I thought I'd just pull colors from it. Granted I only really pulled a couple of colors, which are the most dominant ones to begin with. Meh...

Tiffany necklace (going-away gift, many moons ago)

There, I toned it down with the necklace. Believe me, I probably could have repeated the violet and orange combo in my neckwear too. HAH!

Mixed Patterns

Other (style) bloggers have said it before, I say it too (hah, (style) blogger! me!), one of the beauty of reading other blogs out there is that they provide you all sorts of ideas about style/outfit.

AE button-down shirt, Esprit button-down shirt (inside),
BDG jeggings (UO), C'est Chic boots (Designer Depot)

Thanks to all these blogs, I've seen this look of layered button-down shirts with contrasting patterns (I think that's what I remember seeing anyways:p) enough times that I just had to try it.

Well, for what it's worth, this is my version.

necklace (gift from mom from her cruise)

Too bad the collar(s) got hidden, pretty much buried under the hair...

bracelet (The Bay)
(but you see it in the sleeves)

Going thru some major system changes at work so just really trying to stay as chill as I can. Perhaps why all the recent pops of color and prints? You know, to inject some fun and something light to the atmosphere? As if I'm not bubbly enough! HAH!

Inspired by Rhoda, Sorta'

When I wore my red orange polka dots last week, a co-worker mentioned how she has just recently seen a Rhoda re-run where she wore polka dots with argyle (which I found an image, funny enough), and how she thought it was such a cool combo, and how my polka dot outfit reminded her of that.

oprah.com via Google images

When I told her I'll keep that in mind, coz it did intrigue my patterned brain, I didn't realize it would linger. Linger long enough to have come up with today's outfit.

Express cardi (old), Beechers Brook top (Fairweather),
Gap skirt, Born boots (Winners)

Well, of all the argyles in my closet, no argyle cardi, alas, so I thought, why not plaid! HAH!

Polka dots and plaid, fave patterns, why not, right?:p Hmmm, what next, argyle and stripes? Floral and checks? Hmmm, I think I just got dizzy. Gotta' lie down for a sec...

HAH!

Color Me Plaid

It's been a while (I think) since we've seen the sun a-shining. That is, until today. And boy did it shine! At last!

AE button-down, BDG jeggings (UO), Aerosole boots (Winners)

Funny how it felt as if the whole city was out on the street by the afternoon. Seriously! Have we been that deprived?

And I tell ya, everybody just seemed to be in this wonderful mood. What a difference weather can make, eh?

I guess I picked the right day to wear what I now call my happy plaid. Loving it! Well, it's purple primarily, a big fave, and better yet, it's got orange, one of the most fave...

I say a good way to start the weekend...
