Extra Looong Weekend

Since I didn't really book any vacation this summer, I thought I'd take a few days and attach it to a stat holiday. Hence, the 5-day weekend.

I really relished last Wednesday, knowing it was the last workday of the week. I ended up leaving work much later than I anticipated, just because I didn't want to leave too much stuff hanging. Oh, I know there was even no need for that, but like I said, it's what I wanted (or didn't want).

I didn't realize how tired I was until I woke up at 10 yesterday morning. Damn books keeping me up later than usual.

And since my free time has officially started as of yesterday morning, I decided to meet a friend for lunch yesterday. That was quite enjoyable. And today, I've decided to do nada.

(Side story: this is probably the farthest I can go with this half-tuck/semi-tuck business. Wanna know why? I tried a half-tuck one time, and a colleague surreptitiously pulled me aside to whisper in my ear that I missed tucking the other half of my shirt. BURN!... HAHA... So the fashion limits have been set, so it seems, by the fashion gods for mere mortals such as myself. *giggle*)

You'd think that after the sleep-deprived night before last (ok, sleep-reduced), that I'd have tried to make up for it last night. Nope.

Looking forward to my 5-day weekend, that's for sure. I probably would've looked more forward to it if the weather is cooperating. Whine, whine, whine. Everybody seems to be talking about starting to enjoy their summer already. Everybody but us in this city, boo!

But hey, 5 days is 5 days, right?

I see sleeping, reading, lunch/dinner with friends, sleeping in late (yes, I mentioned sleep twice). *happy sigh*

15 Shades of Black

Thanks to sis' goading, I succumbed to purchasing the Fifty Shades series. I wasn't really planning to. Not sure why, but once there's so much hype around a book, I lose interest. And to me, this happens to be one of those books. And the exception too, it seems.

So I ordered it online (way less expensive), and I ended up picking it up at the store yesterday. Getting ready to sleep last night, I thought I'd start book 1, since a book usually relaxes me and lulls me to sleep.

Not this one, as it turned out. I had to force myself to put it down at some point coz otherwise, I wouldn't have gotten any sleep. I didn't force myself hard enough tho' since I only got around 4 hours of sleep (that's like almost half of my usual sleep requirement, just almost).

I heard that people either love or hate these books. For me, the funny part, I find, is that I'm not even sure if I'm completely sold on the characters. Verdict's still not out, I think...

I'm sure I don't need to describe how this morning went getting ready. Quickly looked outside and looked like it was gonna be a nice one (and it was) and thought I'd air out one of my dresses.

It's a short work week for me, fortunately, so sleep I shall on my (extra) long weekend. HAH!

Wet Friday

So, the retirement party finally came to fruition last night. It was pouring rain, not that we were soaked since we were inside the restaurant after all, but it definitely didn't put a damper on people's mood.

We were worried that not too many people would show up, but the opposite thing happened. Everybody on the guest list showed up. Then there were people who didn't RSVP showed up as well. We all know why they showed up. Same reason why we organized it, to begin with. He's just that kind of person.

Needless to say, it was a fun soiree. Most importantly, the guest of honor had the best time. Mission accomplished.

Woke up still a tad tired this morning, but hey, I thought it was worth it. I did have an awesome time... This is what weekend's for, no?

Blue and Green

It seems weather forecast is changing by the second that what originally was supposed to be a sunny 3 or 4 days is turning out to be sunny 2 days, with today being the 2nd day. So we've been advised. Who knows what it'll be like when I wake up tomorrow. Bah!

It's starting to almost feel like some kind of game, trying to sneak in my summer wardrobe in there somewhere, at the slightest hint of sun/warmth. Can I? Can I not? Or some kind of trade with an unscrupulous vendor. For every 2 days of sun, you get 4 days of rain... Kinda' sad, eh?

Fortunately, the whole week, so far, has been really mellow. Heck, I'm even getting caught up with some of my work. What's up with that? *knock on wood*

And, it's given us at work some time to hash out tomorrow's retirement party for a colleague. Some non-work fun stuff, as I like to call it...

Can't believe it's almost end of Jun. With the summer solstice occurring yesterday, it means the days are starting to get shorter. Again. And we haven't even left spring, weather-wise!!!

Orange Toes

After having gotten a pedi last night, thought it was just right that I show it off. (How shallow can a gal get, eh? Hah!)

Well, it's not a color I usually get even in the summer so I was quite surprised how much I liked it. Is that color bright or what! Everybody else said so as well. Not really sure if it's a good thing. But it's definitely a conversation starter... 

I know, I know, it's just a nail polish! hehe

I'm just realizing (uhm, after how many years of owning this skirt?) that the length of the skirt may not really have the most flattering length for someone, uhm, say with my girth. It's cutting me off at the thickest part of my calves, tut-tut... O well... *shrug*... next time... maybe... Hah!

Anyhoot, the day was good. So-so, but good. I always welcome days like today. No peaks, just one steady busy day...

Heard it's gonna be nice for the next few days. Wheee!!!

This is kinda' another uniform for me. Kinda'? Who am I kidding? It is.

Weather seem to be picking up nicely. A quiet productive day at work. And that's good. I think I have energy to last me the week, for a change. Hah!

Well, I would need the energy as 3 of us at work are responsible for someone's retirement party happening this Friday. I better have the energy, no? I'm quite looking forward to it, and I really hope the retiree will have a rollicking heck of a time. Crossing fingers...

So-So Uniform

It just occurred to me that when uninspired for outfits, this is a go-to look.

It's not even the most flattering of outfits, but do I care? *shrug* It's comfy, that's all I want. I've lost count the number of times I've gone this route. Ok, not even gonna bother with the number of scarves I have, or the number of shoes, for that matter. But really, how many tunic top can a gal have? Apparently, more than 1, or 2, or 3... Yikes!

Then, I remembered I am seeing clients today, after having gotten to work. But then again, with the kind of work I do, this is still more than acceptable, believe it or not. If I haven't mentioned it before, our work environment is super casual. Really, 'can't tell?

Striped Dress

It was almost freaky, since it was almost unexpected, that yesterday was actually mostly sunny and mostly mild. Kinda' knew it was going to be short-lived too, thanks to the weather channel. And it was true, coz today, it's raining. Again.

Figured might as well grab this tiny window of opportunity to wear a dress I bought (thanks to one of my blog reads) a couple of months back.

This dress is so comfy, and the cotton is quite thick, it almost feels like the yore days of Gap (there is such a thing, you know hehe). And I like how I can use so many of my accessories to change the "feel".

And going out after work yesterday for some quick drinks went down a tad more nice with the weather we had. Definitely a sweet way to start the weekend.

"Whoa! That's bright!" First words I heard when I got to work. It IS bright, isn't it? But that's why I love it.

Funny enough, it was one of those mornings when I couldn't decide, for the life of me, what to put on. I was running quite late, I had to ask hubs to give me a ride. And more funny than that (well, not really sure if funny is the word, especially if one asks hubs), when I'm really pressed for time like this morning, I come up with outfits that, in my head, will be good for other days. Other days but that day! Nuts!

I feel like I should be in a golf course, somewhere in Florida, sometime in the 80's. No?

Monday is always an odd day for me when it comes to getting ready in the morning. Some people are usually more inspired in the beginning of the week, what with the fresh start,  the new possibilities, new challenges(?). Me? More like, meh, it's the end of another weekend, is it Friday yet? Hah!

This weekend past turned out to be a nice weekend, yay! SUN! Need I say more?

This was me Saturday, for the usual volunteer day.

Another fruitful morning, fortunately. The rest of the day was spent just walking around. The sun was out after all.

Sunday was spent mainly on the couch, thanks to weekend allergy. I swear, it just acts up this badly on the weekend. Achh!!

And looking out the window now, I think it's gonna be another nice afternoon. I might as well do something, to make up for Sunday, plus who knows how long this will last, again...

That is the top (and the scarf) that wasn't sufficient to keep me warm at work, darn you June-uary!

That is the pants that I haven't worn in months, then I remembered why. As comfortable as it is, it just keeps stretching throughout the day, and when that happens, anybody with a not-so-rail-thin body can tell you what the result is. HAH!

That is the boots that I really like, still do, but was a size too big so I had to put insoles. But because it's a size big, for a feet dragger like myself, one can easily miscalculate steps. As a result, a big major SPLAT!

I'm fine, fortunately. No broken bones or anything. Just one big bruised knee (and ego perhaps? nah, that ship has sailed a while back hehe).

Moving on...

After all that griping about the weather, I think it's finally out of my system. Hey, if it's cold and rainy, it's cold and rainy. So be it.
