Business Casual

I admit, the term "business casual" still causes a lil head-scratching every now and then.

Someone's business wear is someone else's business casual. Someone's business casual is someone else's casual. Someone's casual in someone else's lounge wear.

Pure Cashmere sweater & Dalia Collection pants (Winners),
BR tank top,
A2 by Aerosoles boots (Sears)
I really think I should start upping up my work wear, again. Hey, if I need to dress like this, at the least, for my volunteer work, doesn't my actual work deserve the same?... Maybe... Maybe not...

? necklace (The Bay)
Nygard cuff (Sears)

Oh, and then, there's smart casual...

Ach!

A Tad Brrrrr

I think today is the first day that the temp dipped into single digit, I think.

Old Navy sweater,
Citizens of Humanity jeans (Aritzia),
Aerosole boots (Winners)
Winter coats, I guess, are now back in circulation... *sigh*...

Disclaimer

What you're about to see...

Nah, it's not that bad. I think.

I really wasn't in the mood to put that much thought into my outfit today. Plus, it's that time of the month at work when we deal with more people than usual which meant more walking around which meant people tend to be really really casual.

(excuses, excuses)

Top (Sears), scarf & Adidas sneakers (Winners),
Old Navy jeans
Just because I could go casual at work, doesn't mean I should, but I do. Obviously.:p

Didn't even care if the colors went together, so you think that's something people would comment on, but no. Someone even said my scarf matches my shoes. It didn't.

Maybe I've built up enough fashion cred, I'm able to convince (most) people that what I'm wearing makes sense. HAHAHA... Not.

Now, these kicks just make me smile.

Pattern on Pattern on Print

Argyle on pinstripes on leopard print...

Rafaelle top (Winners), Gap vest,
Della Spiga trousers (Costco), Payless flats
Never really paid attention to it, until an older co-worker complimented my shoes but noted that she wouldn't pair it with stripes. Hah! Goes to show.

To me, the pinstripes are so subtle, I don't even notice it and have always treated it like a solid. Until today:p And yes, got these pants at Costco, years ago!:)

Nygard necklace (Sears)
I love this necklace! I also like how it's also conversation piece. Multi-purpose...

Identity Crisis

I had an idea as to what to wear when I was getting ready this morning, but couldn't decide on the shoes. Too cold for flats. Too uncomfortable for heels should I decide to walk home, which I didn't end up doing. So...

H&M tie blouse, Gap trousers,
Nygard necklace (Sears),
Clarks desert boots (Winners)

A co-worker asked me if I got my necklace in the museum store. I suppose that further reinforced why I got it in the first place. I think. I wanted something tribal-inspired. Well, tribal artifacts can be part of the museum, no? I say it makes sense HAH!

See, this is what happens when there is no dress code. Or I should say, this the beauty of not having a dress code. Or is it?

Uniform

Now that the temperature has cooled significantly, heading to winter with just the blink of an eye, I realize I'm relying more and more on a sort of a uniform.

... Tunic or some kind of long top/cardi, leggings (could be jeggings or skinny/straight jeans too), boots and a scarf...

For the most part, anyway...

Too boring? Well, at least I know I'll be warm, right? Does that count?... of course I'm saying this as fall has really just started...

Tunic top (H&M), Nicole Miller leggings (Costco),
Aerosole boots (Winners)

scarf (gift from mom)
Funny enough, yesterday, I officially started a new volunteer work, and it calls for me to dress, in essence, slightly better than I would for work (sometimes). The agency has a dress code, and my work place don't have one. Funny, eh?

Nicole Miller cardi (Costco), Gap shirt & belt,
Nygard necklace (Sears), BR trousers,
Clarks flats (The Bay)

Layer Up

Beauty of fall, I think, is the way you can layer up, then down, if necessary, without the added bulk of the winter coat.

A/X dress, BR denim jacket, H&M scarf,
Born boots (Winners)
Then up again, maybe, because of the vent right above your desk and you feel the draft right at the back of your neck... I'm just saying...

Purple Rain

Weather forecast called for rain. It didn't come 'til I was almost home in the afternoon.

Infinity scarf (Winners), BR trench,
Old Navy jeans, Aldo flats
O well...

Tuesday 18 October 2011

Tie A Ribbon

There's something very feminine about a tie blouse, which I like, and that quite surprises me as I'm not one to go for super girly things.

Fred David blouse, Express cardi and
Nine West belt (Winners), BR trousers,
Aldo flats
So I had to masculine-ify it a bit:p

The shoes and the belt ended up matching even though they were 2 totally different brands, bought from 2 different stores and on 2 different occasions. How about that! (Trust me they match even though they may not seem so in the pic, darn camera!:p) And not that I intended to go matchy-matchy. It was just one of those things...

Trends

After a very late lunch today, I decided to walk around town to look for, um, something that I've been thinking about for a while now. Ok, not really a while, maybe just a week or so. I could easily blame my sis for citing it as one of her recent obsessions, but who am I kidding!:p

And as I started looking for it, I came across the following:

C'mon now, really?!?! I was looking for leopard-print shoes, can you guess? I considered booties but I knew deep down, I wanted flats. When I saw these, the first thought that came to mind was this is what happens when a trend goes bad.

No? Is it just me?!? Really?!?

Whether my opinion is valid or not, I'm sorry, but I'm not getting it, at all!

So, I ended up with this:p

Payless flats (on sale)
Thank god for freedom of choice...

Version 2

Yesterday was a crazy (good crazy) loooooong day. Let's just say I was with the company I was with for, uh, 14 hours together, including travel time.

At the end of the day though, couldn't have been more satisfied. Got to do a good deed, spend quality time with friends, what more could I've asked for!

I needed to be comfy for our tasks yesterday, so --

Shirt (Fairweather)
Jacket (Winners), AE jeggings,
Converse low-cut leather Chucks

I'm really loving these jeans!!! My go-to bottom, this fall, for sure...

Dust in the Wind

This should have been yesterday's post but Friday that it was, you sometimes just gotta unwind and go out and have fun with friends. So, got home later than usual, and more tired than usual. Ah, good times:)

A co-worker in her 60's asked me yesterday where I got my boots. She said she had 3 similar pairs in her younger years. Actually, I think she still has them. She also said she didn't realize that people are still wearing them... Fashion... they come and go, and come again...

Dress (Esprit), belt (Gap), scarf (gift),
Clarks desert boots (Winners)

High Ho Blue, Away!

Today's outfit makes me feel I should go horseback riding. Not that I've ever gone. Maybe I should.

Top & scarf (H&M), jeggings (American Eagle),
Born boots (Winners)

So glad I bought these pants. Love it!

Wednesday 12 October 2011

These Boots Are Made for Walking

Literally!:p

Poet shirt & Aerosole boots (Winners),
7 for All Mankind jeans (Holt Renfrew Last Call)

These boots are sooooo comfy! I did walk home in them. Boots, comfy. Jeans, comfy. Shirt, super comfy. I might as well be in my jammies heehee

I did go to work prepared. For the intermittent draft.

scarf (Gap)
Not only do I love this shade of blue, but I'm totally digging the lil pompoms on the trim. Go, team! LOL

Tuesday 11 October 2011

Lots and Dots

So, back to work it is, after a couple of weeks of r&r. Working at a different office this week and next. It's always a treat but could be a source of trepidation when plopped in a new work environment.

Top (Fairweather),
Pants (Banana Republic),
Flats (Naturalizer)

I've had this choker for, like, forever. And now they're back in style. See, guess it pays to hang on to certain things, no?

I call these my Dorothy shoes... "There's no place like home, there's no place like home."

Looking For...

... inspiration, wherever I can find it. Had another day of uninspired "outfit"... hmmmm...

I obviously prefer street style... and in pants, mostly...

And while at it, I remembered this video (don't ask my why). Came across this via BryanBoy. With all the things you see or read about her, I like this the most. So far.

Thanksgiving in 2 days up here north of the border:p... Gobble, gobble, gobble...

Howard Wolowitz

The nerd in me openly admits to loving the show, The Big Bang Theory. There, I've said it!

What's that got to do with fashion? Well, watching an old episode, it dawned on me that Howard Wolowitz (Simon Helberg's character) was on to something, in a geek-y kinda' way, of course.

Colored jeans (in cobalt blue)- check
Turtleneck- check
Stripes- check

Well, isn't he set for Fall 2011?
Is it just me?
LOL
(see, this is what happens when you're stay-cationing and without plans, not even to step out, therefore no "outfit" to post:p)

Tuesday 4 October 2011

Haul of the Week

Instead of posting an "outfit" today, thought I'd post SOME of the hauls this week. Yes, I realize it's only Tuesday, but I'm almost certain this is it for the week. I intend so, anyway.

From top left, clockwise:
Poet shirt (Winners) with Nygard necklace (Sears),
Clarks desert boots (Winners),
polka dot blouse (Fairweather),
Old Navy jeans (YES, $0.47!!!)
And lest I forget this...

American Eagle Outfitters cobalt blue jeggings

Major score!

I realize there were a piece or 2 (or more) in the last few weeks, but I'm trying not to think too much about it... teehee...

So, this will, hopefully, be the only haul pic I'll ever post. Hopefully...

Sunday 2 October 2011

Anniversary Lunch

Today is our wedding anniversary. And how did we celebrate it? By going for dimsum! teehee Yummm!

Top (Winners),
Citizens of Humanity jeans (Aritzia)

Notice the back details (again:p)? Love!

Not quite sure if the accessory was right, but I wanted to wear it today...

Ellen Tracy necklace (The Bay)

And as this is fall, after all,

Gap trench coat

I looooove this trench, even though it's a few seasons old now. And I don't really know how I lucked out as I got this on clearance. Score!

I actually probably should have worn a slightly thicker coat, or layered some more, because it was cooler than I thought, but nothing that a lil walking in the stores could not remedy.

So eat, and walk, we did!
